All new software goes through a debugging stage. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s impressive.

Only time will tell, stay tuned.įinally, I should mention that I’m leaving the country for almost three months on January 5th and won’t be able to check the new update until I return. Having said that, my mind could be changed due to the superb support I’ve experienced from Mylio. I’m betting that Mylio and Apple’s Photos are going to be direct competitors so I’ve been patient with Mylio knowing that if they are basically the same I most likely will be going with Apple’s new Photos software. I’m also patiently waiting for Apple’s newest Photos which is supposed to be out sometime the first part of 2015. to keep me up to speed with what the engineers were finding. Both Matt and Raiza have bent over backwards, on weekends, holidays etc. It’s also been a great test of their customer service which has been impeccable. I’ve hung in there with them on this problem since the software seems more than interesting and potentially very worthwhile. My last contact with Mylio was last week and they informed me they found the problem and are releasing a Mylio software update in the near future that will fix all issues.
They originally thought it was due to me using cameras that weren’t supported but I was able to prove to them that the files not loading were many different Nikon NEF’s, some of the most common files in the photo world. I’ve been working closely with the folks at Mylio to try and figure it out. Just after my original post I ran into lots of issues with Mylio properly loading the images on my external drives. The reason is due to Mylio not wanting to load my 100’s of thousands of my 800,000+ photo files. Sam, I apologize for the long delay and lack of further info on Mylio. I’m nearly 100% convinced this will be my next GO To Workflow software. Make no mistake about it, Mylio is a direct computer to photos but with many, many more capabilities including many of the tools we’re loosing with Aperture. Not to mention Apple that is struggling to get Photos put together and working properly. Mylio is a sleeper that I’m guessing Adobe doesn’t even care about. The more I work with Mylio the more I’m convinced this is the real deal and will be a major player in the not too distant future. Not sure how much time it will take but just the fact I’m able to talk with somebody AND they agree these are necessary tools to include, is a huge change from any other software I’ve ever worked with. They include a robust Watermarking tool and an updated file numbering tool when importing your photos. I’ve actually been in touch with their CEO and lead developer and have requested a couple of features they’ve already put on the hot list for getting in to Mylio. It’s looking very, very promising and I’ll be discussing it more in depth in the not too distant future. Nathan, I am back in country and enjoying some time at home with my little pooch. All good software will be subscription at some point. However, I think we’re all going to have to get used to it since I’m convinced that’s the way of the future. Mylio is a subscription service and many photographers aren’t happy with that sort of pricing model.

Try it for yourself by downloading their free trial version and stop back to let me know what you think. That would be a good thing since we need more options. Currently it’s not the editing program Lightroom is but I can see it has the potential to go that direction. From the little I’ve worked with it, it seems to be a solid and easy to use program and I’m hopeful it gains traction. Kevin’s advice is to not necessarily to keep every image you’ve ever shot, on every device, although you possibly could but rather pick just your portfolio images, family pictures and whatever else you want to access quickly.
